Days after he was intercepted and allegedly found in possession of an unlicensed gun, quantity of ammunition and cannabis, Olrick Fingal was remanded to prison on Monday.
Fingal appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
He was charged with having 3.8 kilogrammes of cannabis in his possession for trafficking. The offence was committed on May 16 at Mandela Avenue, Georgetown, CANU said.
The agency did not state whether Fingal was charged with the illegal possession of the gun and ammunition also.
The man reportedly denied the allegation and is scheduled to make his next court appearance on June 16, 2025.
According to CANU, ranks acting on information received conducted an operation in the vicinity of the Royal Hotel on Mandela Avenue, Georgetown.
In doing this, Fingal was intercepted. A search was conducted and eight parcels containing a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis, a CZ pistol, and 19 rounds of live ammunition were found in Fingal’s possession.
He was taken to CANU headquarters, where an investigation was conducted, followed by the charge being laid.
