Missing Guyanese woman found dead in French Guiana

[Waterkant.Net] – Missing 34-year-old Guyanese woman Coretta Blair Sandy (photo), also known as Mindy, has been found dead in French Guiana.

The woman had been to French Guiana with her husband Terrence Glasgow. However, as of Wednesday 11 June, the family could not make contact with the woman and she had disappeared without a trace.

Her husband Terrence went back to Guyana and told his mother-in-law Tricia that they were traveling through Suriname and had gotten involved in a shooting. According to him, Coretta had been fatally shot in the head.

Glasgow said he left the body behind and fled back to Guyana, without knowing exactly where it happened.

His story did not sound very credible and the family called the Guyanese police, who arrested Terrence and took him into custody.

On Sunday, police in French Guiana investigated the house in Pideg where the two were staying in French Guiana. Not far from the house, the lifeless body of the woman was found by the Gendarmerie Nationale in a swamp area around 5:45 p.m.

It is suspected that the man murdered his wife on Tuesday and then returned to Guyana via Suriname. There he allegedly did not tell the truth to the family, who were planning to go to Suriname this week.
