A minibus driver has been arrested after Police Officers found him parked at the side of the Lima Public Road with 20 students and several alcoholic beverages inside the bus.
Police Headquarters said the man was parkedĀ along the Lima Public Road, Essequibo Coast, around 13:30 hrs.
During the operation, Police Headquarters said, ranks observed a minibus parked along the eastern side of the roadway with twenty school-aged passengers inside. Upon approaching the vehicle, the ranks observed what appeared to be alcoholic beverages within the bus.
The driver was instructed to proceed to the Anna Regina Police Station, where the bus was searched in the presence of relevant authorities. Several bottles suspected to contain alcoholic beverages, along with other items, were discovered inside the vehicle.
The students were handed over to a Child Care Officer for further intervention.
The driver was arrested and remains in custody. The minibus has been lodged and investigations are ongoing.
