Following the conclusion of the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) elections, Team CAMS has officially extended its congratulations to President-elect Mohamad Shiraz Roshandin and his incoming executive committee, while reaffirming its unwavering commitment to the advancement of motorsport in Guyana.
As one of the most prolific touring bodies in the region, Team CAMS has been a cornerstone of local racing development over the last three years.
With a formidable presence that has seen over 20 cars and drivers fielded at GMR&SC events, the group has been instrumental in elevating the competitive standards and professional output of the local circuit.
While Team CAMS initially supported Mahendra Boodhoo to ensure the continuity of critical overseas partnerships, the body has acted swiftly to embrace the democratic transition.
In a statement released following the polls, Team CAMS emphasised that the sport’s progress remains the ultimate priority.
“We are racers first,” the statement read. “Our focus remains on putting on competitive, exciting events for fans and competitors alike. Team CAMS respects the democratic process and stands ready to work with the new administration under Mr Roshandin to take motor racing forward.”
Team CAMS believes that the key to the sport’s continued success lies in seamless collaboration between independent racing clubs and the central GMR&SC administration. The team has highlighted its existing professional relationships with several members of the new executive as a foundation for future growth.
The group’s commitment to development is evidenced by its consistent “strength in numbers,” promising to maintain its massive presence at all GMR&SC circuit events.
This large-scale participation is vital to the sport’s sustainability, ensuring high-quality grids and intense competition for the Guyanese public.
The development work is already yielding results on the tarmac. Team CAMS has commenced the 2026 season with significant momentum, following Chris Lall’s commanding overall victory in the year’s first endurance race.
Looking ahead to the April 12th circuit meet, the focus shifts to the Starlet group, where Team CAMS stalwarts and 2025 Champion Drivers, Afraz Allie and Sylvester Carew, will aim to extend their dominance. (Modified Press Release)
