TG Titans clinch Ogle T10 thriller off final ball

In a format designed for explosive finishes, the TG Titans and The Other Guys delivered a climax that lived up to the billing, with the Titans securing the Ogle Cricket Club Invitational T10 trophy off the very last delivery of the day.

Chasing a modest target of 81, the Titans appeared to be cruising at 71 for 2, anchored by a “punchy” 32 from opener Vivian Beckles and a steadying hand from Annad Bharrat.

However, the game was turned on its head by a sensational burst from Beepaul Bhandoo.

Bhandoo removed Beckles to break the 46-run stand and proceeded to dismiss Marlon Bhole and Carl Kumar for golden ducks to complete a rare T10 hat-trick.

The collapse saw the Titans slip from 71 for 2 to 71 for 5 in the space of three balls, leaving the East Coast crowd in a frenzy.

With the equation narrowed to two runs required off the final ball of the match, Bharrat (39*) showed his experience, keeping his nerve to scramble the winning runs alongside Akash Singh.

Earlier, Ronaldo Alimohamad set the tone with the ball, returning figures of 2 for 16.

Despite Steve Gaskin’s 28, The Other Guys were restricted to 81, a total that proved just one run short of defending.

The Titans’ path to the trophy was paved by a dominant opening performance against Mystic Marvels.

Alimohamad was the architect-in-chief, bagging three for 8 to help bundle the Marvels out for 68, before returning to smash an unbeaten 56.

The chase was a mere formality, completed with 22 balls to spare.

In the day’s other knockout fixture, The Other Guys defended 80 against Bel Air Rubis. Kevin Boodie’s unbeaten 43 was the difference-maker, as Sagar Hatiramani and Nyles Liverpool strangled the Rubis chase, restricting them to 67 for 7.
