Western Tigers and Monedderlust emerged with victories in the latest round of matches in the Guyana Football Federation’s Elite League Cup last weekend.
Playing at the National Training Centre at Providence, Western Tigers defeated Fruta Conquerors 2-0 in the feature contest, while Monedderlust edged Ann’s Grove United 1-0 in the opening encounter.
On target for Western Tigers were William Europe (35th) and Tyler Lyle (87th), while Delwin Fraser (62nd) netted for Monedderlust.
In the earlier round, Slingerz FC thumped Ann’s Grove United 8-0 with goals from Darron Niles (12th, 23rd, 49th), Kemar Beckford (21st, 72nd, 81st), Curtez Kellman (31st) and Rashaun Ritch (84th), while Santos FC needled Den Amstel 1-0 with a goal from Shekeel King (39th).
The opening round saw commanding wins for Police and the Guyana Defence Force (GDF).
The Elite League Cup continues on February 25 with another double-header at the National Training Centre. In the opening showdown, Police will take on Santos from 18:00h, followed by a clash between Western Tigers and GDF from 21:00h.

The tournament features Guyana’s top-tier clubs divided into three competitive pools and the Guyana Football Federation has utilised a structured seeding system, mirrored on FIFA and CONCACAF protocols, to ensure a balanced draw.
Group A: Slingerz FC, Monedderlust FC, Ann’s Grove United FC
Group B: Police FC, Santos FC, Den Amstel FC
Group C: GDF FC, Western Tigers FC, Fruta Conquerors FC
The Elite League Cup features a robust prize structure inclusive of cash awards, trophies, medals, and incentives for outstanding individual performances:
- Champion:G$1 million
- Runner-up:G$700,000
- Third:G$500,000
- Fourth:G$300,000
In addition to competition honours, the Elite League Cup will serve as a key scouting platform for Golden Jaguars Head Coach Thomas Dooley and his Technical Support Staff, as they continue to identify, assess, and prepare players for national team duties.
