Security guard found dead after Puruni River boat mishap; search continues for second guard

The Guyana Police Force continues its investigation into a boat mishap on the Puruni River, Middle Mazaruni, on Tuesday, November 5, which led to the disappearance of two security guards.

During a follow-up search on Wednesday, police revisited the scene, located approximately eight minutes from Puruni Landing. The body of Evis Robin, one of the missing guards, was recovered, along with a shotgun and an AR rifle issued to the guards by their security firm.

Police confirmed that an examination of the body revealed no marks of violence. Robin’s remains have been taken to the Bartica Hospital Mortuary pending a post-mortem examination, while the recovered firearms and ammunition were lodged at the Bartica Police Station.

Search operations are ongoing for the second missing guard, Malcolm King. Investigations into the incident remain active.
