President begins Belize State Visit

President Irfaan Ali has begun a three-day State Visit to Belize, during which he will address the opening session of Belize’s Parliament and meet with key government and private sector stakeholders.

The President arrived in Belize on Sunday afternoon.

The Belize government has said the visit is expected to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties with Guyana.

As CARICOM’s Lead Head of Government for agriculture, President Ali will also engage with Belize’s productive sector in an effort to promote greater regional cooperation, investment, and trade. Officials anticipate that several cooperation agreements will be signed during the visit.

In addition to his parliamentary address, President Ali is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Dame Froyla T’zalam, Governor-General of Belize, and John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize.

Belize and Guyana have long maintained strong and friendly relations rooted in shared commitments to regional solidarity, development, and integration.
