A 42-year-old businesswoman of Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden was arrested along with a 36-year-old male driver of Bamia, Linden-Soesdyke Highway after police discovered several firearms, ammunition and narcotics during a search on Sunday.
Police Headquarters reported that the search was conducted at about 01:3hrs at a residence in Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden.
Police said a motor lorry parked in the yard at the residence was searched during which a haversack was discovered behind the driver’s seat containing several parcels of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
Further checks led to the discovery of three 9mm pistols and nine .32 rounds of ammunition concealed among the cannabis.
The cannabis was weighed in the presence of the suspects and amounted to 4.536 kilograms. The firearms, ammunition and narcotics were thereafter lodged pending investigation.
Both suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
