Regional administration monitoring construction of Tabatinga Secondary School

The construction of the Tabatinga Secondary School in Region Nine is moving ahead, with regional authorities optimistic that the project will be completed in a few months’ time.

Regional Executive Officer Karl Singh told the News Room on Friday night that the construction of the school is about 70 to 75% complete, with regional authorities monitoring the progress there. It is expected that the school will be finished by April.

This school is being constructed to ease overcrowding at the nearby St. Ignatius Secondary School. The sod for this project was turned in October 2024, and President Dr Irfaan Ali, who was at the sod-turning ceremony, said it will feature modern amenities that will integrate technology to make learning easier.

The News Room understands that adequate payments—not any overpayments—have been made to the contractor. The contract cost of the project is $182.3 million and it falls under the purview of the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development.
