A storage bond at Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, was engulfed by flames on Wednesday afternoon. The building, owned by businessman Rameez Mohamed, was rented by Chinese nationals.
Mohamed briefly told the News Room that the fire began at around 16:00 hrs noting that a loud explosion was heard inside the building shortly before smoke appeared.
Firefighters are at the scene working to contain the blaze.
