Police in Region Two are investigating the alleged murder of a labourer identified as Leslie Edwards, called “Bumpy.”
According to a statement, the police said the 57-year-old man and his 59-year-old brother were at their Capoey Mission, Essequibo Coast home when an argument ensued between them at about 14:10hrs on Friday.
During the altercation, the suspect allegedly armed himself with a garden hoe and dealt his brother lashes about his body.
Police ranks who visited the scene observed Edwards lying motionless inside the yard. He was escorted to the Suddie Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty. The body was later taken to the Suddie Public Hospital Mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
The 59-year-old brother was taken into police custody and was escorted to the Lima Regional Hospital, where he is receiving medical attention.
He remains under police guard, assisting with the investigation.
