Springlands man dies after stabbing incident with partner

A 46-year-old man from Springlands, Corentyne Berbice, has died following a violent incident involving his partner on Sunday afternoon.

Dead is Patrick Mahendra Singh, a cane harvester of Lot 667, Number 76 Housing Scheme, Corentyne, Berbice.

Reports indicate that at about 1:40 hrs, Singh and his partner, 47-year-old Olive Thompson, a Ten Days worker, were involved in a disagreement that escalated. During the altercation, Thompson was stabbed.

After the incident, Singh reportedly consumed a substance believed to be poisonous and left the scene on a motorcycle.

Thompson was taken to the No. 75 Public Hospital, where she was admitted with serious injuries.

Searches were conducted for Singh, and at about 10:45 hrs the following day, he was found in Number 76 Village. He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
