Approximately $219.4 million worth of cannabis was destroyed during a police eradication exercise conducted on Wednesday at Fort Nassau, Upper Berbice River.
According to Police Headquarters, the operation was carried out between 05:00hrs and 16:05hrs. During the exercise, ranks discovered two cannabis fields covering a combined area of about six acres. An estimated 250,000 cannabis plants, ranging in height from two to six feet, were found at the location.

Officers also uncovered two makeshift camps and a drying area, where approximately 330 pounds of dried cannabis were discovered.
All cannabis plants, along with the dried cannabis, camps, and drying area, were destroyed by fire. No arrests were made, and the operation was conducted without incident.
Investigations are ongoing.
