Police in Regional Division 4 āCā are investigating an alleged double homicide involving a 23-year-old taxi driver of Melanie Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara (ECD), and a 25-year-old labourer of Coldingen, ECD.
According to a statement from the police, Joshua James and Jonathan Hassan were involved in an altercation at a residence at Bareroot, ECD at about 08:40hrs on Saturday.
As a result, both sustained multiple stab wounds.
James was observed leaving the yard and proceeding towards a motor car parked along the roadway. He subsequently collapsed and was transported to the Enmore Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.
Hassan later left the location and was subsequently found motionless on a bench in the vicinity of a barber shop at Bareroot, with injuries about his body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said a visit to both locations found suspected blood stains and other items. Also, a motorcycle believed to be connected to the incident was lodged.
The bodies were escorted to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Mortuary, where they await post-mortem examinations.
Investigations are ongoing.
