Doris Joseph, a 43-year-old woman, was fined $101,000 after she was caught with 338 grammes of cannabis on Saturday while heading to Region One (Barime- Waini).
According to a release from the Customs Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU), the woman was caught with a bulky parcel containing cannabis on Saturday. She was arrested and taken to CANU’s headquarters.
On Monday, she appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court on charges related to the offence of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. She pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a fine of $101,000, a second CANU release said.
