Joseph Fisher has been appointed British High Commissioner to Guyana, Non-Resident Ambassador to Suriname, and Ambassador to CARICOM, according to a release from the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
Fisher succeeds Jane Miller, who will be retiring from the Diplomatic Service. He is expected to take up his appointment in April 2026.
The official joined the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 2007. He has worked in several positions across that office and in national security.
From 2024 to 2025, Fisher served as the Private Secretary to the National Security Adviser. Before that, he worked as Deputy Principal Private Secretary to the Foreign Secretary,
