The long wait for the return of competitive football to Linden is almost over as the inaugural Linden Town Week Inter-Ward Tournament, powered by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and organised by the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation in collaboration with the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA), kicks off on Friday night (April 24) at the brand new Bayroc Stadium.
Officially opened by the Government of Guyana on February 7, 2026, this facility is equipped with international standard lights and is an accredited international track which will also further boosts the skills of hundreds of athletes in the Bauxite Mining Town.
The march pass of the six contesting wards at 18:00h will signal the start of the four-day tournament, which would be followed by the opening match at 19:00h between Half Mile/One Mile/Scheme taking on Central and South Mackenzie/Mines in a Group A fixture.
The feature clash of the night, a Group B showdown, brings together Blue Berry Hill/Christianburg/Alleys & Valleys and Silver Town/West Watooka/Canvas City from 21:30h.

On Monday (April 27), Central and South Mackenzie/Mines will tackle Amelia’s Ward/Kara Kara/Bamia in a Group A contest from 18:00h, followed by Block 22/Wisrock suiting up against Silvertown/West Watooka/Canvas City in a Group B match from 20:30h.
The final two group matches will be played on Wednesday April 29 with Blue Berry Hill/Christianburg/Alleys & Valleys against Block 22/Wisroc from 18:00h, followed by Half Mile/One Mile/Scheme and Amelia’s Ward/Kara Kara/Bamia from 20:30h.
The top two teams from the respective group will advance to the tournament final of May 1 at the same venue, while the respective runner-up wards will contest the third place game.
Wards will be battling for G$2 million in prizes with the winner receiving one million, second place G$500,000, third G$200,000 and fourth place G$150,000.
