In less than two weeks, the spanking new boxing gym being constructed by the Government of Guyana at Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, Berbice, will be completed.
That’s the promise of the contractor, who indicated during a visit to the facility by Director of Sport Steve Ninvalle that works will wrap up in 10 days.
Ninvalle was accompanied by Berbice boxing coach and former national champion Jeff Roberts, who has been monitoring progress at the facility.
Ninvalle, who also holds the portfolio of President of the Guyana Boxing Association, believes the new facility will not only provide a structured environment for young fighters but also broaden the sport’s base nationwide.
“This gym doesn’t just add depth to boxing in Berbice, it strengthens boxing across Guyana,” he explained.
“More young people will now have access to proper facilities, and with that comes the opportunity to pursue the sport seriously.”
The project, which carries a price tag of just over G$47 million, is being executed by A. Alli Construction Company.
