The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has led the tributes to Arudranauth Gossai following his historic election as President of the Bar Association of Guyana.
In an official statement, the GCB hailed the appointment as an “excellent and commendable choice,” praising Gossai’s integrity, intellect, and unwavering commitment to service.
The cricket board expressed immense confidence that, under his stewardship, the legal body will continue to uphold the rule of law and contribute meaningfully to national development, and wished the incoming president a highly impactful tenure.
Gossai, who previously served as Second Vice-President, secured the presidency after leading his slate of nominees to victory over a challenge from a group led by Darren Wade.
The highly contested election took place during the Bar Association’s 47th Annual General Meeting on Friday, May 29, 2026. Conducted via Zoom, the AGM drew the highest membership attendance in the association’s history.
The newly elected Bar Council for the 2026-2027 fiscal year sees former President Kamal Ramkarran step into the role of First Vice-President, with Teni Housty named Second Vice-President.
Yashmini Singh retains her position as Secretary, while Samuel Glasgow and Mohanie Anganoo take over as Treasurer and Assistant Secretary, respectively.
Completing the Council as elected members are Robin Stoby SC, Jamela Ali SC, Horatio Edmondson, Rea Harris, Chevy Devonish, and Ron Motilall. The election process was overseen by Returning Officer Rajendra Jaigobin.
