Two buildings housing several business places, including the well-known Tailor shop owned by the late Hermon Bholaisingh, were destroyed by fire on Sunday morning.
According to reports, the fire started around 3:00h at a workshop operated by Demerara Shipping Limited, before spreading to the four-storey wooden-and-concrete commercial building at the corner of Water Street and Lombard Street in Georgetown.
Several fire trucks and emergency responders were deployed to the area as firefighters battled to contain the blaze.
