GSL launches ‘Super We’ campaign to celebrate Guyana’s cultural heartbeat

There is a distinct rhythm to cricket in Guyana, one that echoes from the lush banks of the Essequibo to the packed, pulsing stands of Providence.

It is this exact heartbeat that the ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League (GSL) is looking to capture ahead of its third edition, officializing the sentiment with the launch of its new campaign: “Super We.”

At its core, the initiative is less about the clinical execution of the game and more about its cultural gravity. In Guyana, cricket has never just been a sport; it is a unifying social fabric.

The “Super We” campaign—conceived and produced by local agency Ogle & Stone—seeks to lean heavily into that identity, blending the country’s rich cultural diversity with its soaring global ambitions.

Even the tournament’s silverware speaks to this local pride, with the GSL trophy structurally inspired by the majestic Kaieteur Falls.

For a nation experiencing an unprecedented economic and developmental surge, the tournament represents a homegrown product designed for a global audience.

It is a philosophy echoed by Dr. Irfaan Ali, President of Guyana, who noted that the campaign deliberately looks past the boundary ropes to tap into something deeper.

“The Super We campaign goes beyond statistics, trophies, and scorecards,” President Ali said.

“It celebrates the enduring cultural soul of cricket and the sacred place it holds in the hearts, history, and imagination of the people of Guyana and the wider Caribbean.”

The commercial footprint of the tournament continues to expand alongside its cultural weight. Alistair Routledge, President and General Manager of title sponsors ExxonMobil Guyana, emphasised the tournament’s dual role in elevating local spirits while driving tangible international interest.

“The Super We campaign highlights how the tournament celebrates Guyana’s deep love of cricket, attracting world-class talent and growing sports tourism in the country,” Routledge stated, welcoming the tournament’s third iteration.

Perhaps no one understands the unifying power of West Indian cricket better than GSL Chairman and legendary former West Indies captain, Sir Clive Lloyd. For a man who once galvanised an entire archipelago through the sheer force of cricketing excellence, the campaign’s message remains simple and potent.

“Cricket is part of who WE are, and this campaign seeks to celebrate the love of the game,” Lloyd said. “Let us come together and show the world who WE are as a people. SUPER LEAGUE. SUPER WE.” (Modified Press Release)
