Instead of these prohibited events, the Task Force noted that persons may celebrate the traditional aspects of Christmas within their households. Religious observances are covered under the guidelines for places of worship in the COVID-19 regulations.
Such measures are of particular importance due to the enduring COVID-19 pandemic and the impending threat of the new Omicron variant.
“The National COVID-19 Task Force urges Guyanese to demonstrate responsible behaviour and extends best wishes for the holiday season to all,” the advisory stated.
