PPP/C already delivered on 80% of promises in less than two years – Jagdeo

“We are going to stay faithful to what our plans are,” he added.

Jagdeo said the PPP/C is the only party that has a track record of working for all of Guyana while others use race as a strategy.

“The PPP stands tall in all of this… the party will remain open to people everywhere and we will ensure that all people are involved in the vision.”

The government has been called on to respond to the crisis families are facing across the country as a consequence of the increased cost of living brought on by global factors.

The cost of fuel has more than doubled internationally while the COVID-19 pandemic has contributed to a significant increase in the cost of commodities; the ongoing Ukraine-Russia crisis has worsened the international price surge.

The PPP/C on Tuesday listed a total of 19 interventions it made to ease the burden faced domestically by citizens. They include:

1. $5 billion in budget 2022 to ease the rising cost-of-living on Guyanese
2. Reversal of over 200 taxes and fees imposed by APNU/AFC
3. Reduced excise tax on fuel from 50% in 2021 b 10% in 2022
4. Freight cost restricted to pre-COV1D level to keep import prices down
5. $25,000 COV1D cash grant to every household
6. $1.736 to 220 Amerindian communities & $1.3b to severed sugar workers
7. Old-age pension from $20,500 to $28,000 between 2020 and 2022
8. Restore water and electricity subsidies to pensioners & over $200 million electricity credit to vulnerable households
9. Covid-19 relief hampers distributed countrywide
10. $1.16 in one-off payments for health workers the disciplined services
11. $25,000 in one-off payments to public servants in 2020
12. 7% across the board increases for public servants
13. $600m in two-week bonuses for 9,200 health workers
14. $1.26 in one-month bonuses for disciplined services
15. Increase of income tax threshold from $65,000 to $75,000
16. ‘Because We Care’ cash grant restored, increased and extended
17. Public assistance increased from $9,000 to $14,000 by 2022
18. Over $7 billion in flood relief cash grant distributed
19. Ongoing farmers market to help farmers sell their Products while consumers benefit from lower prices
