A neighbour told the News Room that he was fixing his motorcycle when he noticed smoke emanating from the house and contacted the Fire Service.
Meanwhile, Shamar explained that his mother died two months ago and he had taken over the house and was working to refurbish it.
The man said he had already bought new furniture and tiles which all got destroyed in the fire. Shamar, who works as a surveillance monitor at Guyana Shore Base Inc., said he recently got paid and had approximately $60,000 cash inside the house.
“I gah work and build it back, but I don’t know what I will do now,” Shamar said.

“I had to take out a restraining order against [him] also,” Shamar said.
Meanwhile, his sister Alpha, who is a member of the Guyana Police Force, said she recently moved in with her brother.
“I only move over here about a week and all my stuff, everything down the drain,” Alpha said.
