Over 4,000 jobs expected from mega East Coast industrial park

“… the East Coast has been earmarked for tremendous transformational development, both for infrastructure and job creation,” Nandlall underscored.

To satisfy the expected labour needs at the mega East Coast facility and in other sectors of the economy, the Attorney General implored the residents to exploit scholarship and training opportunities available to them.

This industrial development plan was outlined previously by President Dr. Irfaan Ali as part of Guyana’s diversification plan. The Port Mourant training centre in Berbice is being converted to a new technical training centre to cater for the skills needed in the oil and gas sector.

Similarly, Minister of Health Dr. Frank Anthony told the residents that there are increasing labour needs within the health sector as the government pursues an ambitious plan to transform the healthcare sector.

He told the residents that there are about 20 different training programmes offered by the Health Ministry, ranging from community health workers to medexes.

“… we want people, we need people.

“We want people to take advantage of these opportunities so they can have a career in health,” Dr. Anthony said.
