A 32-year-old man was killed after he crashed into the back of truck (GAC 1297) that was removing a car involved in another accident in the wee hours of Saturday along the Rupert Craig Highway.
Dead is Stephon Stewart of Charlestown, Georgetown.
Police Headquarters reported that Stewart was driving motorcar (PRR 7135) along the Rupert Craig Highway when the accident occurred at about 03:10hrs.
Adrian Montrose of One Mile, Wismar, Linden was the driver of the other car (PKK 9331).
According to the police report, Montrose alleged that he was proceeding west along the Rupert Craig Highway when an unknown truck swerved into his lane.
One of the cars involved in the accidentMontrose then swerved left to avoid a collision, lost control of his vehicle and ended up submerged in a trench on the southern side of the road.
While GAC 1297 was removing Montrose’s vehicle from the trench, Stewart collided head-on with the back of the truck.
Police noted that the hazard lights were on the truck at the time of the accident.
Stewart was pronounced dead at the scene by EMT.
The body was taken to the Memorial Gardens Mortuary, awaiting a post mortem examination.
Both drivers of the truck and other car are in custody assisting with the investigation.
