Press Release from the Guyana Cricket Board

The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has officially named its 14-member squad to represent the country at the upcoming Cricket West Indies Regional Under-19 Tournament.

Following a period of rigorous preparation though the GCB Inter-County tournament, training camps and one-on-one sessions, the selectors have finalised a well-rounded unit of emerging talents.

The squad reads: Jonathan Van Lange (captain), Romario Ramdehol (vice-captain), Rampersaud Ramnauth, Parmeshwar Ram, Romeo Deonarain, Sachin Balgobin, Afraz Ali Budhoo, Shamar Apple, Salim Khan, Riyad Latif, Golcharran Chulai, Nityanand Mathura, Bruce Vincent and Micah Amsterdam.

The standby players are: Wavell Allen, Neeran Bani, Sanjay Algoo, Jayden Dowlin, Shiloh Adams, Matthew Pottaya and Ronaldo Jeffery.

The team will be under the watchful eyes of Head Coach Garvin Nedd and manger Nazeer Mohammed.

Junior Lead Selector Andre Percival expressed his confidence in the group: “I’m confident in the group. I wasn’t directly involved in the initial selections due to my tour commitments in the Breakout League, (but) I’ve followed the process closely and I believe these boys have what it takes.”

The 14-member squad, along with the seven reserves, will begin their full encampment on Tuesday June 17.

The encampment ends on June 26.

The GCB extends congratulations to all selected players and applauds their dedication, discipline and consistent performances throughout the selection process.

The Board also acknowledges and thanks the coaches, selectors, support staff and parents for their continued contributions to the development of youth cricket in Guyana.

The Guyanese contingent is scheduled to depart for St. Kitts on June 29 as part of its commitment to early preparation and acclimatisation ahead of the tournament.

The Guyana Cricket Board remains committed to structured player development and competitive readiness ahead of the tournament, scheduled to be hosted in St. Kitts.
