Students, teachers traumatised after ‘gang’ enters Campbellville Sec. School with weapons

“…some of them wielding weapons and tried to traumatise students, and teachers,” Haley said.

The police and officers from the Welfare Department were contacted and upon the arrival of the police, the gang left the school.

In videos shared on social media, the group of boys was seen entering the school with what appeared to be pieces of wood, a shovel and other weapons.

Two students were so traumatised that the ambulance was called in and had to rush them to the Georgetown Public Hospital. One student also received minor bruises.

“An ambulance was called in due to the traumatic event, two of them [students] were in a state of shock, they were palpitating and were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital,” Haley said.

Haley related that the security at the school will now be boosted and based on the outcome of the investigation, other steps will be taken to avoid future incidents.

This is the second related gang incident at a school within 24-hours. On Wednesday, teachers at the Lodge Secondary School complained about the prevailing issue of gangs at the school and being threatened daily by students.

On Thursday, a student at this school was found with an air gun inside his backpack.
