Machine Tech/Trident BMC, Digicel and SBM Offshore are Title Sponsors of AmCham Golf

The stage is set for the third annual American Chamber of Commerce Guyana (AmCham Guyana) golf tournament on April 25 at the Lusignan Golf Course, with Machine Tech/Trident BMC, Digicel Business and SBM Offshore signing on as Title Sponsors for the one-day event.

AmCham Guyana is a voluntary, non-profit, membership organisation committed to promoting and enhancing commercial relations between the United States and Guyana.

As such, the golf tournament, set to tee-off at 07:00h, provides the perfect platform for members to connect, create new opportunities and build mutually beneficial business relations between Guyanese and American companies.

Speaking in Georgetown on Wednesday, President of AmCham Guyana Iman Cummings highlighted the significant growth of the tournament, with over 100 players set to compete this weekend.

“This is a highly anticipated sporting event that has become very popular amongst the corporate community,” she observed.

“The event has grown significantly over the past three years. This year we have 112 participants, 28 teams and more than 250 spectators expected to come out.”

“We remain ever so grateful for the support from the corporate community, from our membership and from the private sector at large and we’re really looking forward to a fantastic tournament this year.”

Communications Manager of Digicel Gabriella Chapman and Health and Safety Manager of Machine Tech Aneska Gaindalall touched on their companies’ involvement in the competition.

Chapman said: “We genuinely believe in what this event represents, which is bringing US and Guyanese companies on the same field, with the same goal of building relationships. Guyana is in a remarkable moment of growth and Digicel Business wants to play a meaningful role in that, and events like these help us to not just be a service provider, but to build business relationships.”

Gaindalall said: “For us the tournament is a reflection of the values that underline the US and Guyana business relationships. It serves as a platform where we can bring together the private sector where they engage in teamwork and camaraderie while enjoying a good game of golf.”

Connection and collaboration

Now firmly established on the corporate calendar, the tournament has become a sought-after platform for connection and collaboration.

This year’s edition is oversubscribed, reflecting the strong and growing demand within Guyana’s private sector for high-quality networking opportunities that combine professional engagement with collegial competition.

Set against the scenic backdrop of the East Coast of Demerara, the 2026 tournament will welcome a record 28 teams, comprising 112 players.

This continued growth builds on the success of the 2025 edition, which featured 26 teams (104 players), and the inaugural tournament, which hosted 20 teams (80 players).

“Such steady expansion underscores not only the rising prominence of the event, but also the increasing relevance and convening power of AmCham Guyana within the national business landscape,” a release from AmCham Guyana outlined.

“AmCham Guyana remains committed to promoting healthy lifestyles, sport, and education as integral components of sustainable development and economic diversification.

“The Chamber continues to serve as a trusted bridge for U.S. firms, policy institutions, and investors seeking to better understand Guyana’s dynamic environment and to navigate opportunities within its rapidly evolving economy. Through these efforts, AmCham Guyana reinforces its role as a valued partner in advancing shared prosperity and deeper bilateral engagement.”

More than a sporting event, the AmCham Guyana Golf Tournament serves as a platform for dialogue, partnership-building, and investment facilitation.

It provides a unique setting where business leaders, executives, and investors can engage in constructive conversations that often translate into tangible commercial opportunities.

Strengthening ties

Established in 2018, AmCham Guyana continues to play a pivotal role in promoting US investment and facilitating bilateral trade.

With a membership of over 225 organisations spanning key sectors of the economy, the Chamber remains a leading advocate for strengthened US-Guyana commercial relations.

The growth of this tournament mirrors the broader momentum of collaboration and synergy between local enterprises and American partners.

The corporate response to this initiative has been overwhelmingly positive, with many of Guyana’s leading companies lending their support.

This level of engagement reflects a shared recognition of the value of partnership, innovation, and sustained dialogue in driving economic progress.

The success of this year’s tournament is made possible through the generous support of its sponsors.

Title Sponsors Trident BMC/Machine Tech, Digicel Business, and SBM Offshore continue to provide critical leadership.

They are complemented by Hole Sponsors Baker Hughes, Halliburton, MACORP, Marriott Hotel, and United Airlines; Brand Visibility Sponsor BYD- Build Your Dreams; and Foursome Sponsors Keen360, Archer Guyana and Caribbean, ExxonMobil Guyana, Namilco, Vista Trading and Logistics (Guyana) Inc., Case International, Air Dash, One Communications, and SLB.

“Through initiatives such as the Annual Golf Tournament, AmCham Guyana reaffirms its commitment to corporate social responsibility, community engagement, and the cultivation of enduring partnerships,” AmCham Guyana highlighted.

“The Chamber looks forward to welcoming participants to what promises to be another successful and impactful event, further strengthening the bonds between Guyana’s dynamic business sectors and its international partners.”
