Two men, Gregory Persaud and Antonio Alonzo Lawrie, were charged in relation to the ongoing probe into the recent discovery of 10 AK-47 rifles and were remanded to prison.
In a release, Police Headquarters said the men were charged with conspiracy to commit a Felony. The charge was laid under Section 33 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act,
Lawrie and Persaud appeared before Magistrate Rhondel Weever at the Wales Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where the charge was read to them. They both pleaded not guilty.
Bail was refused, and they were remanded to prison.
The matter was adjourned to July 29, 2026.
Meanwhile, Persaud was also charged with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Without a Licence. The charge was laid under Section 16(2)(a) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 16:05.
He appeared before Magistrate Dylon Bess at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where the charge was read to him. He pleaded not guilty.
He was granted bail of $400,000 and was ordered to report to the Police every Friday.
The matter was adjourned to July 3, 2026.
